Another year another failure - The story of real madrid
Just an interesting aspect of the game - Real spends tons of money and goes another season without a trophy. I attempt to understand why. On its way...
I don't think Real's year was a complete failure. Sure they got knocked out early in the Spanish Cup and the Champions League but they had an incredible year in the Spanish League. They notched up 96 points and it's equally incredible that Barcelona managed to get 99 points. So in that respect they did really well but they should have done better overall.
I think people also forgot that even though they forked out millions each year, the new players also need time to settle in. I mean star players are still only players and most need time when adapting to a different league, team and city.
Kaka and Ronaldo for example didn't actually shine this year but they have enough quality to play a lot better next year and they should be performing better for the amount they were bought for.
By being Real Madrid and spending hundreds of millions they've put an enormous amount of pressure on the team. I think that they need to quit getting new managers every year and stick with their current one. Pelligrini is a good coach and he did alright for his first year in charge. If next year is the same story then yeah, Real messed up.
