The end of the EPL season and the PFA awards

It is late in the season, with only two games left, but this is one of the closest premier league races we have seen in a long time. With Chelsea and Manchester United separated by one point with a game at Anfield this coming weekend. Liverpool will be fighting to finish this campaign in fourth, they are sitting at seventh on the table and behind the fourth place spurs by only two points, though the spurs do have a game in hand. If chelsea can manage to win this they should win the title. This formula also doesn't account for man u unexpectedly losing or drawing their final two matches against Sunderland and Stoke.  As much as Liverpool fans may dislike Chelsea, they must realize that winning on Sunday will put man u on track to win their nineteenth and fourth straight title. A loss on the other hand will make the chances of finishing fourth evaporate...this year really has been tough on you liverpool fans...

Now on to the PFA Awards -
Wayne Rooney took player of the year, while James Milner of Aston Villa took young player of the year. The PFA team of the year is composed of Joe Hart, Branislav Ivanovic, Patrice Evra, Richard Dunne, Thomas Vermaelen, James Milner, Cesc Fabregas, Darren Fletcher, Antonio Valencia, Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney. One man from Birmingham (Hart) while Chelsea, Arsenal, and Villa have two players on the team with four Man U players.
Wayne Rooney has been a truly magnificent striker this year, scoring twenty-six goals in the premier league leading the way in the golden boot competition. Rooney has singlehandedly carried united, picking up the slack that was left when Ronaldo left for Spain. Rooney not only has the ability to score goals, but he can create for other man u players, while also pulling two or three defenders with him when he gets close to the box. Rooney is a truly outstanding player this year. One can claim that Drogba has done just this for Chelsea, and he has, but Rooney has carried manchester united this season. Chelsea is no longer a team that shrivels up and puts eleven men in front of their own net with Drogba, Chelsea can cope without him. Rooney on the other hand, is a necessity in Manchester and thus there is added pressure for him to perform, and he is delivered. That is why he is player of the year.
James Milner, was barely young enough to win this award. He was 23 when the season started, just making him eligible. He did not deserve this award. The man has been a great midfielder for Aston Villa this season, but his performance is nothing compared to that of Cesc Fabregas. Fabregas is having one of the best seasons of his life, Fabregas was even nominated for player of the year. Milner wasn't even considered. Milner has only scored seven goals in thirty-four appearances while Fabregas has scored fifteen in twenty-six appearances. Fabregas also has a much higher passing percentage and is two years younger than Milner. Fabregas clearly deserved that award, and if he didn't Milner didn't deserve to win it.
The PFA team of the year is absolutely ridiculous, there is no mention of Frank Lampard. The man is one fire this term and scoring as many goals as most strikers while playing beautiful through balls and tackling back. He clearly should have been in Milner's spot. This also begs one to ask about, what about Malouda? The Chelsea midfielder has been in great form as of recent, putting up amazing crosses and scoring weekly. Another midfield option would have been Gareth Bale, who is just as important to his team as Milner and has scored just as important goals. In terms of defense, other players who should be considered are Leighton Baines and Stephen Warnock, two defenders considered for the English national team after Ashley Cole's injury.
This PFA awards this year are ridiculous and one could create an alternate PFA team with the amount of quality in the premiership.
