Mourinho has done it once again, the man has lead Inter to the Champions League final. After seeing Barca and Man U in the finals, it is a nice change to see two fresh faces. One a European giant that has been out of the mix the other, the 4 time running champions of Italy. This year's match up in Madrid is sure to be a cracker. Bayern cruised into the final with the help of some shoddy calls, while Inter had to face Chelsea FC, CSKA Moscow, and Barcelona. Many Barca fans are complaining that Mourinho parked the bus in front of their goal, but Barca have no one to blame but themselves, allowing Inter to score 3 at the San Siro while having 86% of the possession today and only producing 1 goal. This year's Champions League final is bound to be refreshing and a nice change in the power balance of European football.
Inter defeated Chelsea FC on their march to the final, interesting fact about Chelsea, since 2004 any team that beat chelsea at any point after the group stage has won or at least gone to the final. in 2004 AS Monaco beat Chelsea and made it to the final where they eventually lost to the special one....In 2005 Liverpool defeated Chelsea and went on to win the final in a penalty shootout after a scoring 3 goals in 10 minutes....In 2006 Barcelona beat Chelsea to defeat Arsenal in the final and be crowned kings of Europe. In 2007, it was more of the same for the Blues, they were defeated by Liverpool team that would come up a little short against an unstoppable AC Milan team. 2008, was a little different, as Chelsea finally made it to the finals themselves. Manchester United won in a penalty shootout due to some wet turf (we forgive you John, you are still our captain....). 2009 more heartbreak for the blues, Barcelona managed to grab a last gasp winner in the 93th minute that pushed them into the final where they defeated Manchester United. 2010, another year of disappointment for the Chelsea faithful. The Special One came back to the Bridge and was pure class. He is on to the final and we wish him the best of luck.
Besides Liverpool in 2007, every team that has sent Chelsea home has been named Champion of Europe...lets see if this trend continues
