Instead of sleeping like a normal person, I have been reading a lot of soccer websites to see if anyone is picking a winner for this weekend's game of the year, the Chelsea Liverpool game. While looking into this game I realized that everyone is assuming that Manchester United will win with no problems against Sunderland. You know what they say when you assume...this is not necessarily a gimme for man u. Sunderland is sitting 10th on the table beating Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham to name a few. They even beat Manchester united this year during their first meeting, Man u needed a late stoppage time (some would claim a bit too much stoppage time) goal to tie that game. Man u will be missing Wayne Rooney, of course man u is not a one man team and has a very deep bench. But one man u will clearly miss the presence of their talismanic striker who has the ability to create and distribute while pulling defenders off other key players. Sunderland is sitting at the very end of the top half of the table and could have featured in Europe if they had picked up a few more points this season. Could this perhaps be a stumbling block for united? This game has just as much importance to the title as the Chelsea Liverpool game, in theory, there are only 3 spots on the table separating liverpool and Sunderland...
Manchester united must be careful and not go into this match assuming they have won, they very well may be shocked...this time on sunday (...or i suppose monday morning?) this match be considered the one that decided the title, not the match at Anfield.
